I have been working on this little knitted elephant for Anya's birthday coming up. As you know, I learned to knit when we came to Aber almost a year ago and I am totally hooked. I read knitting blogs and am always looking for cool patterns. I am still learning lots of new things and like to include a new skill in each project. This elephant is a very clever pattern called Elijah by Ysolda S. Teague. I found it through a couple of the knitting blogs I have been reading lately. He is knit in the round with no seams. You just pick up stitches to knit the limbs and such. I learned how to do short rows for the ears (thank you you tube) for this project. I really enjoyed knitting this little guy and am super excited to give him to Anya. She tries to grab Harry every chance she gets so hopefully she will like him. There are some mistakes but I learned a ton knitting him so next time I will do a better job. The creator of this pattern also made a bunny and a bear knit in a similar manner that I want to try soon.
These are from a couple weeks ago, anybody in my family recognize the messy cheerio pictures?

wow, you're a pro if you ask me, nice work! Anya is soo beautiful, I know I say that too much but I know parents don't get sick of people complimenting their kid, so, she's a cutie!!
US too!! Holy crap, coincidence. Actually we should try and get together. Blake and I have found something really cool we wanna show people. We'll be there until the 10th. Well Blake leaves the 8th, I stay a lil longer. Keep in touch so we can meet up!
Sorry so slow getting to you, even though I looked earlier. Of course the cheerios picture is familiar. And by the way, did you steal mine of you? And the elephant is priceless. You are so knitting me under the table. mum
Did you set that up on purpose? Next your going to have to bathe her in a five gallon bucket of water... Am I remembering that correctly? I haven't seen those old photo albums in many years.
HOLY COW. That's amazing! I can't believe you knitted that! I'm very impressed. And you sure have a cutie! :)
She pulled the box of cheerio's off the table and then onto the floor and then dumped then out and began enjoying the goodness. The one from our childhood is actually Parker but bathing in a 5 gallon bucket is a good idea.
I don't check in often and comment even less, but it's time to rave! Your adorable girl, your awesome knitting skills (no reference to Napoleon Dynamite intended), your envious life... Wow. Thanks for being such a great blogger, so we who read your blog can experience your adventures through your pictures and words! You people are amazing! Love yer guts,
Auntie Karla
Actually the 5 gallon bucket is from washing the car, it was Chrys and it hung on the wall of the hall until I painted and don't know where I put it. The cheerios were both Chrys and Parker and were because we saw an ad saying take pictures of your kid with Cheerios and maybe win a chance for a commercial. You guys were always playing in the Cheerios so I took the pictures, but never sent them anywhere. Should have, they were great! mum
Chrys what the heck! Where does this talent come from! Hey I think that I will knit an elephant today... You are amazing! You always surprise me!
The one from March where she is pointing straight up looks suspiciously familiar also. :)
